The perfect action, the perfect feel, the perfect tone

There are four things that affect your guitar’s action and playability: 1. “Neck relief” or more commonly called, neck curve, 2. Bridge height or saddle height, 3. Nut height, or more precisely, nut string groove heights and 4. Intonation.

If any of these is out of whack or not adjusted accurately, you’re going to be experiencing fret buzz, bad intonation, or uncomfortably high action – all of which make a guitar more difficult (and a lot less fun) to play and worst of all, the sound can be woeful. and it is not even your fault.

Playability problems can affect guitars old and new, whether they’re cheap, expensive, or fresh out of the box or decades old. If you’re not quite happy with the way your guitar plays, don’t give up on it. Almost every day, customers tell me, “Wow, I did not know this guitar could feel so great and sound so good”. Awesome!!!

Here’s how we’ll help:

  • Set the right amount of bend (relief) in the neck
  • Set the right string slot depth in the nut and the correct groove width too
  • Set the right string height at the saddle/bridge
  • Accurately set the intonation. (Mainly on Electric Guitars and Basses)

But that’s not all!

With all the set ups we do, we also give every instrument a good once over to clean it and look for hidden issues.

We’ll clean your frets, condition your fretboard, and tighten and tension your tuner mechanisms – basically, we do everything to make sure that when you get your guitar back from the Brisbane Guitar Repair Clinic, it 100% plays better than when it came in!
